# Automations

### What are Automations?

Automation means setting up messages that are automatically triggered when a customer takes a specific action on your website.&#x20;

**For example,** when a customer places an order, an automated message is instantly sent to confirm their purchase, eliminating the need to send each message manually.

### Steps to Set Up Automated Message

Follow the instructions below if you have already set up the [WhatsApp](/communication-channels/whatsapp-integration/creating-your-first-whatsapp-template.md) and [SMS templates](/features/templates/sms-templates/creating-your-first-sms-template.md).

1. Go to the **Automation** section in the dashboard.
2. Click on **Create Automation**.
3. Choose the required **automation type** from the list and click on **Create Automation.**

4. Next, select the preferred communication channel — **WhatsApp, SMS, or both** , for delivering the automated message.
5. Choose a **pre-approved template** for each selected channel (*you can add multiple templates to one automation).*
